In October 2019, the IWA INTERNATIONAL WATER ASSOCIATION SPECIALIST CONFERENCE ON NATURAL ORGANIC MATTER (NOM7) was successfully held in Tokyo with more than 200 participants from around the world, and with 110 oral and 40 poster presentations.

Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 epidemic, NOM8 had to be postponed for two years. Thus, it is with great pleasure to announce that NOM8 will be hosted in South Africa in December 2023 by the University of South Africa (UNISA) under the flagship of UNISA’s Institute for Nanotechnology and Water Sustainability (iNanoWS) at the College of Science, Engineering and Technology (CSET). The IWA PARTICLE SEPARATION CONFERENCE has been selected for the year 2023 following the NOM8. The two conferences will be held back-to-back from 3 – 8 December 2023 at the Birchwood Hotel and OR Tambo Conference Centre in Boksburg, South Africa.

CO-ORGANIZERS

The IWA conferences will be hosted by the UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH AFRICA partnering with the WATER RESEARCH COMMISSION (WRC) OF SOUTH AFRICA

CHAIRS

IWA 8TH INTERNATIONAL WATER ASSOCIATION SPECIALIST CONFERENCE ON NATURAL ORGANIC MATTER (NOM8)

3 – 6 December 2023

The NOM8 conference will provide a platform to share the latest scientific and practical knowledge on natural organic matter in diverse water environments, drinking water, wastewater, and recycled water.

IWA PARTICLE SEPARATION CONFERENCE

6 – 8 December 2023

The IWA Particle Separation Conference is a forum for science and technology of particles with a wide size range. It will bring together specialist researchers and professionals from universities, municipals, manufacturers, consulting and other industrial sectors.

The particle conference will cover advances in particle science and characterization as well as basic mechanisms of particle separation processes, the occurrence of, and changes in, natural and synthetic nano- and micro-particles in surface waters and wastewaters and their impact on treatment processes. Progress in particle removal technologies, such as coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, flotation, filtration and membrane processes will also be discussed. Topics such as emerging technologies for particle removal will be discussed. Participation of all professionals and engineers in different sectors are welcome.

Following the NOM8 conference, the particle conference will begin the afternoon of 6 December and end on 8 December. Overlapping sessions for both conferences, in which common topics will be discussed, will take place the morning of 6 December. Delegates can choose to attend either NOM8 or the Particle Separation Conference, or both.
